Superlatives Degree of the Adjectives (Sıfatlarda En Üstünlük Derecesi)

Üç veya daha fazla kişi ya da nesnenin kıyaslanmasında superlatives degree of the adjectives (sıfatlarda en üstünlük derecesi)nden yararlanılır. Grubun içinden farklı nesne, insan veya canlı bu özelliği ile vurgulanır.

Murat is the youngest person of his family.

(Murat, ailesinin en genç kişisidir.)

Bobo is the cleanest person of his family.

(Bobo, ailesinin en temiz kişisidir.)

You are the most perfect person in my family.

(Sen, ailemdeki en mükemmel kişisin.)

Sakıp is the most hardworking student in the classroom.

(Sakıp, sınıftaki en çalışkan öğrencidir.)

Bu yapı uygulanırken kısa sıfatların önüne the sonlarına -est getirilir. Cheap the cheapest; short the shortest; small the smallest; tall the tallest; young the youngest vb. olur.

Bazı sıfatlar sonlarına ek alırken, sonlarındaki sessiz harf bir daha yazılır: Fat the fattest; hot the hottest; wet the wettest; big the biggest gibi ...

Sıfatın son harfi y, ondan önceki harfi sessiz ise y düşer ve yerine - iest getirilir: Busy the busiest; lazy the laziest; dirty the dirtiest; funny the funniest gibi...

Uzun sıfatların başına the most getirilir: Difficult the most difficult; famous the most famous; expensive the most expensive; beautiful the most beautiful gibi...

Bazı sıfatlar da hiçbir kurala uymaz: Good the best; bad the worst; far the farthest; little the least gibi...

Bobo is the cleanest person of his family.

(Bobo, ailesindeki en temiz kişidir.)

You are the laziest boy in the classroom.

(Sen sınıftaki en tembel çocuksun.)

Sakıp is the most hardworking student.

(Sakıp en çalışkan öğrencidir.)

(Bay Sıkı bu şehirdeki en cimri adamdır.)
